Oxidative stress and RNA oxidation (mainly Type 2 Diabetes). Oxidative stress - focus on translational aspects. Several large epidemiological studies and intervention studies have been completed and published, focusing on diabetes type-2 and severe mental disease. Oxidative RNA modification in vivo

Urinary excretion of the RNA oxidation marker 8-oxoGuo measured shortly after diagnosis of type 2 diabetes predicts long-term mortality independently of conventional risk factors. This finding suggests that 8-oxoGuo could serve as a new clinical biomarker in diabetes.
